Vaping, or use of e-cigarettes, is a quickly growing trend in the US, but it may not be as safe as consumers like you believe. These devices do not burn tobacco like traditional cigarettes, but instead use flavored liquid, heated until vaporized, which people then inhale. Flavor cartridges often still include nicotine which is an addictive and dangerous substance. Some also include marijuana.

Scientists believe that a derivative of vitamin E may be to blame in the cases related to products containing cannabis. While no problems have been directly related to it when ingested, inhaling it as a fume could be causing respiratory problems.
Reports of Serious Illnesses and Death Increasing
Indiana has recently reported its first e-cigarette related death. The death caused by a severe lung injury linked to the deceased’s vaping. The state is continuing to investigate 30 other cases of severe lung injury and any possible links to e-cigarette use.

The CDC recommends watching for a shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea and fatigue if you have vaped recently–if you have any of these symptoms it may be time to be checked by a doctor.
